Mississippi MacDonald to Play Upstairs at Exeter Phoenix in October

One of the UK's most exciting modern soul voices comes to Exeter for an intimate 150-capacity show

BSW are bringing Mississippi MacDonald, one of England's finest soul and blues singer-songwriters and guitarists, to Exeter Phoenix this October for an intimate upstairs performance.

A four-time UK Blues Award winner and Take Me To The River All Star, Mississippi MacDonald won both Traditional Blues Artist of the Year and Acoustic Blues Act of the Year in 2024 and again in 2025.

Since signing with APM Records in 2021, he has appeared on BBC Radio 2's The Blues Show with Cerys Matthews and has toured extensively across the UK and the USA. His appearances have included the Washington State Blues Society showcase on Beale Street during the International Blues Challenge, as well as performances featured on King Biscuit Time in Helena, Arkansas, and Radio Memphis.

In May 2024, Mississippi MacDonald performed as part of the Take Me To The River All Stars alongside William Bell of Stax Records, the legendary Hi Rhythm Section, Jools Holland and Eric Gales.

His first album for APM Records, Do Right, Say Right, was named one of Mojo magazine's Top 10 Blues Albums of 2022. Since then, he has released Heavy State Loving Blues and I Got What You Need.

Known for authentic, heartfelt performances, Mississippi MacDonald draws on a lifetime of inspiration from the great soul and blues artists, making this intimate 150-capacity show at Exeter Phoenix a must for fans of the genre.
