Shooting Yetis

A mysterious blue, feathered creature with a colorful belly stands partially hidden behind foliage in a dense forest.

An Exeter film crew went in search of one of the world’s most elusive creatures last week, tracking down a rare Yeti at an undisclosed location in the Devon countryside.

Preston Street Films was shooting a video trailer for Quirk Theatre’s forthcoming Christmas show, Yeti, which comes to Exeter Phoenix from 13th to 27th December.

Wildlife Shoot With a Difference

The crew’s mission was to capture footage of the mysterious creature in its natural habitat. But this was no ordinary wildlife shoot. The Yeti in question was big, blue and, as several surprised dog walkers discovered, rather fond of dancing.

Preston Street Films director Chris Jones said:

I’ve done quite a bit of wildlife filming in my time, but I’ve never shot anything as spectacular as a Yeti.

Production manager Charlie Tapp added:

It was very funny. Lots of dog walkers were very surprised to see a big blue creature walking through the woods. They were particularly surprised when it started dancing.

About the Show

The woodland antics offer a taste of the wonderfully offbeat world of Quirk Theatre’s Yeti, a festive adventure for all the family, presented by Exeter Phoenix and Quirk Theatre.

The show follows the residents of Little Trusting, whose peaceful winter preparations are thrown into disarray when something large, hairy and smelly moves into the nearby forest. With biscuits disappearing and socks going missing, a brave band of adventurers sets off to find the mysterious new neighbour.

Quirk director Katie Villa said

Expect spectacular sets, original music, puppetry and plenty of Quirky silliness, alongside a heartwarming story about friendship, courage and what it means to belong.

For Preston Street Films, the project was an opportunity to bring a little theatrical magic to life on location in Devon, with the resulting trailer giving audiences a glimpse of the festive fun in store.

Tickets and Trailer

Yeti runs at Exeter Phoenix from Sunday 13th to Sunday 27th December 2026. Tickets start at £12, with family tickets available.

Show details and tickets can be found on the Exeter Phoenix website.

The video can be seen on the trailer page.
